Where your dollars go
Caring for disabled veterans and giving them the help they need is our top priority. Beit Halochem is a place where the disabled can regain dignity and quality of life..
The state-of-the-art Beit Halochem Centres in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, Nahariya and Beer Sheva offer many rehabilitative services, including: therapeutic devices, specialized equipment, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, sport coaching and cultural activities.
Cycling has become one of the most popular sports offered at our Beit Halochem Centres, enabling those without limbs and sight the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Proceeds from CiM will be used primarily towards purchasing cycling equipment (customized handbikes, single and tandem bicycles) and funding the cycling programs at our Centres.

2012 CiM follow-up
Fifty-eight cyclists from Canada, USA, Curacao, and Australia joined 60 disabled veterans on a five-day magical adventure through the Golan Heights and Jerusalem as part of our 2012 Courage in Motion bike ride. Meeting our Heroes, cycling, visiting an army base and experiencing the spectacular sights were just a few of the amazing highlights. More than $300,000 was raised for the cycling rehabilitative programs at our Centres. Thank you to all our sponsors and cyclists.

What our riders have to say ...
Sheena Lister (CiM 2011) says: "Have you ever set out to go on a 1-hour run only to return home 25 minutes later? Have you ever woken up at 6:00 am with every intention to hit the gym, and proceeded to hit the snooze button until your regular wake-up time at 8:00 am? Have you ever made an excuse for being lazy? I know I have. This feeling of laziness was put in check for me when I embarked on a five-day strenuous biking trip called Courage in Motion in Israel. .. In the end it was one of the most significant adventures of my life."

Dr. Richard Nurgitz (CiM 2010) says: "The experience of meeting and riding with the war veterans who were with us, made a most profound impact on me. Men and women who had suffered injuries we cannot comprehend, who have managed to piece their lives back together and who don’t consider themselves 'disabled', makes me appreciate how lucky we really are. These people are the heroes of Israel and I felt honoured to have met some of them." Read more of Richard's story.
